The Orioles rallied back to beat the Astros again on a game-winning three-run double from rookie Jackson Holliday. Here’s everything you missed from yesterday in the MLB.
Orioles 3, Astros 2
Jackson Holliday hit a pinch-hit three-run double to complete the Orioles rally over Houston for the second straight night. Baltimore pulled within a half-game of the AL East lead after a Yankees loss.
Rockies 9, Yankees 2
Jake Cave had four hits and three RBIs to help Colorado end their three-game losing streak. Bradley Blalock allowed two runs on five hits to pick up his first career win in his third start.
Blue Jays 3, Angels 1
The Blue Jays won their third straight against the Angels after Bowden Francis struck out a career-high 12 hitters and allowed one run in eight innings. Vlad Guerrero Jr. doubled in a run in the first to give Toronto the lead and homered in the eighth.
Milwaukee used a three-run second inning to take the lead and secure the series win after taking the first two games in Oakland. Jake Bauers hit a two-run homer and scored three times to lead the charge for the Brewers.
Diamondbacks 4, Red Sox 1
The Diamondbacks won their fifth straight game on the back of a two-hit, six-inning outing with nine strikeouts from Zac Gallen. Eugenio Suarez hit a double in the fourth that scored two and gave Arizona the lead.
Giants 4, Mariners 3
Thairo Estrada hit an RBI single in the fifth to give San Francisco the lead before Mike Yastrzemski hit a solo home run to give the Giants an insurance run in the seventh. Seattle lost their fourth game in the last five games and is four and a half games out of the AL West lead.
Cubs 14, Marlins 2
The Cubs won their third straight in blowout fashion over the Marlins thanks to two home runs and four RBIs from Seiya Suzuki. Shota Imanaga allowed two runs across seven innings of work and picked up his 10th win.
Reds 10, Pirates 2
Cincinnati scored four runs in the first inning to jump out to the early lead and cruise past the Pirates. Elly De La Cruz had three hits and drove in two runs in the win. Rookie Julian Aguiar allowed two runs on three hits through six innings to win his first career game.
Twins 6, Cardinals 0
Trevor Larnach put the Twins on the board with a three-run homer in the third inning and homered again in the fifth to help Minnesota take game two against the Cardinals. Pablo Lopez struck out nine batters in seven scoreless innings, which was good for his 12th win of the season.
Guardians 13, Rangers 5
Steven Kwan hit a two-run double in the second inning to give Cleveland the lead and end their three-game losing streak in a blowout of the Rangers. Jhonkensy Noel hit a three-run homer in the third, a part of a three-hit night for the rookie. The Guardians have a two-game lead atop the AL Central.
Detroit scored four runs in three separate innings to beat the White Sox for the second straight night. Vierling, Keith, and McKinstry all homered for the Tigers in the win. Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal allowed three runs and had eight strikeouts in five innings to get his league leading 15th win.
Phillies 11, Royals 2
T. Realmuto hit two three-run homers and had seven RBIs as the Phillies took game two of the series. Ranger Suarez allowed one run in five innings of work. The Royals remain in the final AL wild-card spot.
Braves 4, Nationals 2
Travis d’Arnaud gave the Braves the lead with a single in the sixth and hit a solo homer in the eighth to give Atlanta some insurance. Orlando Arcia hit a solo home run of his own, and the Braves won their sixth in the last seven games. Atlanta trails the Phillies by five games in the NL East.
Francisco Lindor hit a grand slam and a solo home run for the Mets who have won three of four. David Peterson allowed one run in seven and a third to shut down the hot Padres offense. New York is just two and a half games out of the last NL wild card spot.
Rays rookie Junior Caminero hit a home run to tie the game in the ninth to set up a two-run game-winning homer from Jose Caballero in the 10th. Tampa gave up an early four-run lead before Caminero hit his second career homer to tie it up. Shohei Ohtani homered for the second straight night in the loss.
