World No. 1 Japan has unveiled their 18-player roster for the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup presented by RAXUS, scheduled from 25 July to 3 August in Tainan City (TPE). You can see the roster here (in Japanese).
Japan has competed in all seven previous editions of this event, winning a pair of medals: a silver in 2019 and a bronze in 2013. The Japanese squad is still looking for their first World Championship in the youngest WBSC World Cup age group.
From 20 to 22 July, the team will gather together for a training camp ahead of their travel to Taiwan for the World Cup. They will open the global competition in Group A, where they will face world No. 2 Chinese Taipei, No. 4 Mexico, No. 10 Cuba, No. 12 Australia and No. 17 Germany.
A total of 40 players participated in the selection camp in May, where the 18 final players were selected.
Two years ago, in 2023, Japan finished fourth losing the bronze medal game, 9-8, against Venezuela in a thriller.
