When Texas Longhorns outfielder Jonah Williams is not on the diamond at Disch-Falk Field, he is on the football field playing for head coach Steve Sarkisian on Saturdays in the fall.
This 2025 football season for Williams will be his freshman year on the gridiron for Texas.
Coming out of high school, Williams was a five-star football recruit from Galveston, Texas. He was the sixth-ranked overall prospect in the 2025 class.
He committed to Texas back in August 2024 over other schools such as Oklahoma and Texas A&M.
2025 College Baseball Season for Williams at Texas
Before the 2025 college football season, Williams played on the Longhorns’ baseball team for their 2025 season. He played in 20 games and started in 15 of them.
In 55 total at-bats, Williams had a .327 batting average, three doubles, and 10 RBI. On defense, he had a perfect, 1.000 fielding percentage with 18 putouts and two assists.
Williams also showed his speed and how he can be a threat on the base paths with three stolen bases this past season.
The outfielder’s best game during the 2025 season for Texas came on April 19 against the Auburn Tigers.
In that game, he had three hits. He tallied a hit in all three at-bats. Williams also scored two runs in that contest. He played a big part in a dominant 14-2 win for the Longhorns.
Aside from that game, Williams had four other multi-hit games against Lamar, Kansas State, UTSA, and had another against Auburn as well.
The multi-sport athlete had a great baseball season for the Texas Longhorns. Now, he takes his athleticism to the football field in Austin this fall.
