Although the Guardians 162nd game was canceled, and José Ramírez fell one double and one home run shy of the 40-40-40 club, he still walked away with another Silver Slugger Award.
Ramírez fell one double and one homer shy of joining Alfonso Soriano as the only players to have a 40-40-40 season. Ramírez was a finalist for the Silver Slugger alongside Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros and Rafael Devers of the Boston Red Sox.
This was his fifth career Silver Slugger Award and his first since 2022. He led all American League third basemen in hits, runs, home runs, RBIs, doubles, batting average, and OPS. Ramírez tied his career best with 39 home runs in 2024. He was named to his sixth career All-Star game and his fourth consecutive.
The New York Yankees eliminated the Cleveland Guardians in the postseason. Ramírez had five hits, including a home run in the series. It was the first time since 2016 the Guardians reached the American League Championship Series.
Despite the Guardians falling short of the World Series, Ramírez continued to build his resume as one of the best third basemen of this generation.
