Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be honored by the Fubon Guardians on Aug. 11, when he throws out the ceremonial first pitch at Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium.
This marks the second consecutive year that the Guardians have invited a Hollywood star for this tradition, with actor Sung Kang, who starred in the “Fast and Furious” franchise as Han Lue, having the honor the previous year.
An internationally acclaimed actor, Gordon-Levitt has starred in award-winning movies such as “Inception” and “The Dark Knight Rise.” Besides his roles as an actor, he also served as a director, producer, and screenwriter.
Gordon-Levitt’s connection to Taiwan dates back to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he publicly praised the nation’s COVID-19 prevention strategies. To celebrate Taiwan’s resilience and community spirit, he launched a campaign called “Faces of Taiwan” on Facebook, encouraging Taiwanese citizens to share photos of themselves and iconic Taiwanese landmarks.
Gordon-Levitt is in Taiwan after speaking at the Asia Blockchain Summit on Aug. 8, representing his media platform, HitRecord. While at the summit, he highlighted Taiwan’s democratic process and called it striking, according to reports from TaiwanNews.com.
Gordon-Levitt’s visit and participation in the ceremonial pitch underscore the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between Taiwan and the international community as well as the Fubon Guardian’s attempt to highlight their global brand.
