MIAMI – Some of the biggest names in Latin baseball and entertainment will share the field at loanDepot Park on Dec. 6, when La Gente Del Barrio stages a Home Run Derby and Celebrity Softball Game to benefit community programs supported by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the VG27 Foundation.
Guerrero Jr. is the face of the event in Miami, bringing his VG27 Foundation to the spotlight during Art Basel weekend. He will be joined by New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto, San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr., Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez, Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodríguez, Pittsburgh Pirates standout Oneil Cruz and Colorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar.
The baseball side of the lineup continues to grow, with infielders and utility players such as Santiago Espinal and veteran leader Miguel Rojas confirmed for the game. With power bats, athletic shortstops and established stars across the diamond, organizers are promising a night of long balls and highlight plays for fans at loanDepot Park.
La Gente Del Barrio is also leaning hard into crossover appeal. Latin Grammy-winning duo Gente de Zona is on the bill, bringing “La Gozadera” live to the outfield. They are joined by Dominican hitmaker Dímelo Flow, Miami’s own DJ Africa, and artists such as Marconi Impara, turning the pregame and in-game soundtrack into a full Miami block party. F1 Academy driver Maite Cáceres adds a motorsport presence as a featured guest, giving the event another global sports connection.
Spanish-language television and digital media stars are filling out the celebrity roster. Confirmed participants include Tony Dandrades, Carlos Adyan, Roberto Hernández of “El Gordo y La Flaca,” Emmy-winning journalist and podcast host Maity Interiano, author and life coach Laura Posada, TV personalities Jessica Rodriguez and Aly Sanchez, and Venezuelan host and model Migbelis Castellanos. Chef Adrianne Calvo is also set to appear, extending the “maximum flavor, maximum energy” branding from the kitchen to the concourse.
One of the event’s hooks is pure power. Promotional material from La Gente Del Barrio teases that the Home Run Derby will be played with aluminum bats, inviting fans to imagine Latin stars launching 500-foot drives under the roof at loanDepot Park. The format is designed for spectacle, with organizers promising no limits, big swings, and a stadium atmosphere that blends reggaeton, big-league swings and Miami’s neighborhood energy.
Proceeds from ticket sales will support the La Gente Del Barrio Foundation and Guerrero Jr.’s VG27 Foundation, which work to uplift communities and create opportunities for children and families. The game positions Miami as a winter meeting point for MLB stars, rising athletes from other sports, and some of the most recognizable faces in Latin media.
Tickets for the La Gente Del Barrio Home Run Derby and Celebrity Softball Game are available through Marlins.com and the loanDepot Park ticket platform, as well as via the @lgdelbarrio and @vg27foundation social media accounts. Organizers report strong demand and urge fans to secure seats in advance for what they are billing as a one-night blend of sport, music, and barrio pride in the 305.
