Juan Soto Goes Deep in First Mets At-Bat

The Dominican superstar Juan Soto took to the field today for his first Spring Training game to thunderous ovations from Mets fans. He is already proving he is worth his contract, powering a solo home run to deep left-center field to give the Mets an early 1-0 lead.

Soto, 26, signed a record-breaking 15-year deal for $765 million this past offseason. He spent the 2024 season as a member of the New York Yankees, helping them reach another World Series appearance, after the Yankees last World Series in 2009. He played in 157 games last season, hitting for a .288 average, with 41 home runs and 109 RBIs. He was an All-Star and took home a Silver Slugger Award.

The New York Mets will open their season against the Houston Astros on March 27 at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM EST.
