The Yankees trade for Juan Soto has turned out to be a home run, literally and figuratively. Soto’s home run on September 17 against the Seattle Mariners proved to be a special one.
In the top of the fourth inning, Soto hit a 410-foot, two-run home run. This home run not only became his 200th career home run and 40th home run of the season but was also his first home run at T-Mobile Park. Soto has now homered in all 30 active MLB ballparks.

Soto became the seventh youngest player to join the 200-home run club. At 25 years and 328 days old, only Alex Rodriguez, Mickey Mantle, Jimmy Foxx, Albert Pujols, Eddie Mathews, and Mel Ott have reached the 200 home run mark at a younger age. All six went on to hit over 500 home runs in their careers.
Soto hitting his 40th home run of the season is also significant. It was the first time in his career that he reached the mark.
At just 25 years old, Soto has already filled up his trophy case. He has won four Silver Slugger Awards, a World Series, a batting title, and even a Home Run Derby. However, a World Series in pinstripes would etch him into Yankees history alongside legendary Yankees.
Soto will be a free agent for the first time in his career, and he is surely set to become one of the highest-paid players in baseball. His outstanding season will make it tough on the Yankees to let him walk.
