Aaron Judge went deep again as the Yankees win the series against division leader Guardians. Here’s everything you missed from yesterday in the MLB.
Yankees 6, Guardians 0
Aaron Judge homered in the fourth for No. 48 on the season and his third straight game with a home run to give the Yanks the lead. Gerrit Cole allowed one hit in six innings of work to help New York win the series. The Guardians have a two-game lead in the AL Central.2
Nationals 8, Rockies 3
Patrick Corbin allowed one run, struck out eight in six innings, and picked up his 100th career win. Washington scored three in the sixth inning to extend their lead and win the series.
The Cardinals scored all three runs in the seventh, starting with a Wilson Contreras walk with the bases loaded to beat the Brewers for the second straight day. Rookie Victor Scott had a career-high three hits and scored for St.Louis.
Cubs 10, Tigers 2
Miguel Amaya gave the Cubs the lead in the fourth inning with his first career grand slam and singled home a run in the seventh to help Chicago win the series. Justin Steele dealt ten strikeouts and allowed two runs across seven innings.
A two-run second inning from Oakland that was capped off by an RBI double from rookie Darell Hernaiz helped the A’s to the series split. Osvaldo Bido allowed one run and struck out six in his third straight win.
Pirates 7, Reds 0
Paul Skenes had nine strikeouts and allowed two hits in six innings to help Pittsburgh complete the shutout in game one against the Reds. The Pirates scored six runs in the fifth inning, capped off by an Oniel Cruz single that scored one run.
Blue Jays 5, Angels 3
Ernie Clement hit a two-run homer, his third in the last three games, as a part of a second inning where Toronto scored all five runs. The Angels attempted a comeback in the ninth with a Niko Kavadas three-run home run, his first MLB hit, but fell short and lost for the eighth time in the last 10.
Astros 6, Orioles 0
The Astros took the first game of the series in Baltimore for their ninth straight road victory and increased their lead in the AL West to five and a half games. Ben Gamel drove in two runs in his Astros debut with a single in the fourth and sixth innings.
Braves 3, Phillies 2
Rookie Spencer Schwellenbach retired 19 straight batters in a nine-strikeout outing that lasted six and two-thirds. Matt Olsen doubled home a run in the third inning before Adam Duvall added an insurance run with a solo homer in the sixth. The Braves took two out of three against the division-leading Phillies to inch within six games of Philadelphia.
Mets 8, Padres 3
Mark Vientos homered in the first to put the Mets on the board and help them take game one of a series between playoff hopefuls. Luis Severino had five strikeouts and allowed one run in five innings. New York is one and a half games behind the Braves for the final wild-card spot.
