With the series even at two games apiece, the KT Wiz and the LG Twins will square off once more with a trip to the second round on the line.
The underdog Wiz come into this contest with all the momentum following a walk-off win in game four that extended their season at least one more day. With ace William Cuevas unavailable after pitching on Wednesday, KT will give the ball to right-hander Um Sung-beck instead. The 13-game winner is coming off a solid regular season but has struggled mightily against the Twins this season with an 8.44 ERA. This includes his game two start, in which he allowed four runs over four innings and got tagged with the loss.
Meanwhile, The defending champion Twins will also send their game two starter back to the hill, as Im Chang-kyu will look to outduel Um once again. The 29-year-old right-hander allowed just one run over 5.1 innings, registering his third win in as many tries against the Wiz this season.
The winner of this contest will face off against the second-seeded Samsung Lions in the next round, while the loser will be headed home for the offseason. The first pitch from KT’s Jasmil Baseball Stadium will be on Friday at 5:30 a.m. EST.
