KBO League: Australia’s Lachlan Wells Dominates on Mound for Twins; Landers’ Park Seong-han Sets Season-Starting Hitting Streak

There have been several standout performances in the Korea Baseball Organization over the past week.

By now, each of the league’s 10 clubs has played 20 or more games on its 144-game schedule. As of Wednesday, the KT Wiz are atop the standings, leading the LG Twins by half a game.

The Wiz’s time in first place may not last long if the Twins continue to receive pitching performances like the one left-hander Lachlan Wells put together on Wednesday.

Wells Dominates, Throws Eight Shutout Frames Against Eagles – Wells, an Australian left-hander who made four starts with the Kiwoom Heroes in 2025, threw eight shutout innings in a 3-0 victory against the Hanwha Eagles today.

He needed just 84 pitches to get through eight innings, striking out seven while allowing just one hit and one walk. With just three outs to go before securing his first career shutout, the Twins opted to use closer You Young-chan in the ninth.

“I wanted to go out there for the ninth,” Wells told reporters after the game, including Yoo Jee-ho of Yonhap News Agency. “I haven’t had a complete game shutout before, so it’s something that obviously is a pretty cool achievement. But just to go out there and put the team in a position to win, and we did that.”

KBO’s Batting Average Leader Sets New Hitting Record – SSG Landers shortstop Park Seong-han set a new KBO record for the longest hitting streak to start a season on Tuesday, collecting at least one hit for the 19th consecutive game.

Park currently leads qualified KBO hitters with a .486 batting average, and went 3-for-4 at the plate against the Samsung Lions.

The previous record for the longest hitting streak to open a season was held by Kim Yong-hee, who hit safely in 18 straight contests for the Lotte Giants in 1982, per Yoo.

Landers to Sell Starbucks Themed Jerseys – In an unusual twist, the Landers will sell Starbucks jerseys before their three-game series against the Giants from May 1-3.

According to Dan Kurtz of MyKBO, the “Starbucks Days” jerseys will be sold exclusively through the Starbucks mobile app. They went on sale Tuesday morning.

The Landers’ primary jersey colors are red and white, but fans can purchase the pinstriped green and white uniform with a Starbucks logo located directly below the team’s nickname.
