KBO News: Heroes Upset Twins; KBO Surpasses One Million Fans

The 2025 Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season is heating up. The LG Twins are the league’s hottest team, winning 11 of their first 13 games of the year.

With several months left in the season, there’s a lot more time to follow along the KBO’s best players and the top headlines surrounding the top professional baseball league in South Korea.

Kiwoom’s Rosenberg Strikes Out 13 – Left-handed pitcher Kenny Rosenberg of the Kiwoom Heroes struck out 13 Twins batters in eight scoreless innings on Wednesday in a 4-0 upset.

The former Los Angeles Angel carried a perfect game until two outs into the sixth inning. His 13 strikeouts were one shy of tying the Heroes’ club record.

“I knew I was perfect through three, and to be honest, I knew I was perfect through five,” Rosenberg told Yoo Jee-ho of Yonhap News Agency. “Baseball is a really hard game. The balls that are well struck are out, but then the one that’s 50 miles an hour off the bat is a hit. So I thought about it, but at the end of the day, you’ve just got to take it one pitch and one at bat at a time. I know it’s a cliche, but it’s true.”

KBO’s Attendance Continues to Climb – On Sunday, the KBO announced that the league had reached one million in season attendance in 60 games, the fastest trajectory to that number in league history.

Korea JoongAng Daily reports the previous lowest number of games it took to reach one million fans was 65 games in 2012. Additionally, there have already been 30 sellouts between the KBO’s 10 organizations.

A few weeks ago, the KBO broke the all-time attendance record for an opening weekend with 219,900 fans at five stadiums.

Bears’ Jake Cave Surprises Future League Players – On Wednesday morning, outfielder Jake Cave of the Doosan Bears gifted the Bears’ KBO Futures League players with a coffee truck to show appreciation for the club.

Dan Kurtz of MyKBO on X reports that the truck provided 150 cups of coffee to Bear’s Futures League players and coaches. Cave is off the top club’s roster due to illness but will return to the starting lineup on Thursday.

Cave, 32, signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Bears in November after seven seasons in Major League Baseball spent with the Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, and Colorado Rockies. He hit .214 with a .634 OPS in his first eight KBO games before his illness.
