On Wednesday, December 17, the University of Florida officially announced that head baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan has returned to the program.
In October, O’Sullivan took a leave of absence from coaching the Gators due to personal reasons.
The Florida coach talked about how grateful he was to be back in a press release from the university.
“I want to thank the University and athletic department for their support,” said O’Sullivan. “I am excited to be back and am ready to get to work with our team as we prepare for the upcoming 2026 season.”
O’Sullivan will still have to serve a three-game suspension to start the season. He will not be in the dugout in Florida’s first weekend series to open the season against the UAB Blazers in Gainesville.
O’Sullivan’s Career with the Florida Gators
The 2026 college baseball season will be O’Sullivan’s 19th season coaching Florida. He has won 756 games with the Gators.
In 2017, O’Sullivan led Florida to their first and only national championship. He has led Florida to the College World Series nine times.
O’Sullivan has won two SEC Tournaments and six SEC regular season titles. He has been named the SEC Coach of the Year three times.
Florida’s 2025 Season Results
In 2025, the Gators finished the season with a record of 39-22 overall. They were 15-15 in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
They made the NCAA Tournament and played in the Conway regional. This was hosted by the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, who finished as national runners-up.
Florida defeated the Fairfield Stags in the regional. However, two losses to the East Carolina Pirates knocked them out of the tournament.
