Kike Hernandez Bobblehead Night Sets MLB Attendance High

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their bobblehead giveaway series on Wednesday with a Kike Hernandez bobblehead night in their final game of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants.

The Dodgers offered the bobblehead to the first 40,000 fans to arrive at Dodger Stadium. The versatile Puerto Rican player drew a large crowd for his bobblehead night. The game was not only the largest crowd at Dodger Stadium this season but also the highest attendance at any MLB this season, with 54,070 fans. The Dodgers set the record earlier this season when they had a Shohei Ohtani bobblehead night on May 16.

Hernandez, now 32, is in his 11th season in the MLB and eighth with the Dodgers. The Puerto Rican-born player made his Dodgers debut in 2015 at the age of 23. After six seasons with Los Angeles, Hernandez spent two and a half seasons with the Red Sox before the Dodgers reacquired him in a trade with Boston in 2023. Hernandez resigned with the Dodgers this offseason after he became a free agent.

Despite a slow start at the plate for Hernandez in 2024, the Dodgers have often relied on his versatility in the field. Hernandez has played seven different positions in the field for Los Angeles this season, including an appearance on the mound on July 9. Hernandez has long been a fan favorite of the Dodgers since he joined the team in 2015. In 75 games this season, he is batting .197 and has six home runs.
