LAMP: Aguilas de Mexicali, Venados de Mazatlan Each Win Third Straight

Aguilas de Mexicali (20-17) 9, Charros de Jalisco (20-17) 2 – Phillip Evans went 2-for-5 for Mexicali, hitting a two-run single in the first and a three-run homer in the fourth to drive in five of the Aguilas’ nine runs Wednesday. Estevan Florial drove in two runs for Mexicali, one with a single and one with a sac fly, as Mexicali torched Charros starter and potential Nicaragua World Baseball Classic pitcher Ronald Medrano for seven runs on eight hits in four innings of work.

Jaguares de Nayarit (21-16) 6, Tomateros de Culiacan (19-18) 3 – Starter Grant Wetherbee allowed two hits and three walks through six scoreless innings, striking out five for Nayarit, which improved to five games over .500. Ricardo Valenzuela went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, singling home Francisco Acuna in the third. Luis Verdugo’s fourth homer of the year, a three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth, brought in all of Culiacan’s runs.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo (21-16) 4, Yaquis de Obregon (23-14) 2 – Cesar Salazar went 2-for-3, walked twice, and scored a run, and Jose Cardona drove in a pair of runs, one with a single in the fourth and another with a sac fly in the sixth as the Naranjeros picked up a game on the Yaquis. Starter Wilmer Rios allowed two runs on three hits for Hermosillo, walking none and striking out three.

Venados de Mazatlan (14-23) 6, Caneros de Los Mochis (21-16) 3 – Miles Simington went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored as Mazatlan put a foot on the basement steps. Six different players each drove in a run for Mazatlan, and Ramiro Pena scored twice. Yasmany Tomas went 3-for-5 and drove in a run for Los Mochis.

Algodoneros de Guasave (13-25) 4, Tucson Baseball Team (14-24) 3 (11 Innings) – Esteban Quiroz’ RBI single in the top of the 11th made the difference for Guasave. Augustin Ruiz hit a two-run homer for Tucson, which is now 3-7 in its last 10 games with no end to the endless road trip in sight.

Transactions for Nov. 26

Naranjeros de Hermosillo – RHP Enrique Castillo has been placed on inactive status. He may be activated on Nov. 27, and RHP Orlando González has been added to the active roster. RHP José Albertos has been placed on inactive status. He is may be activated on Nov. 27, and LHP Jorge Rodríguez has been added to the active roster.

Yaquis de Obregon – Traded LHP Saúl Vázquez to the Algodoneros de Guasave for LHP Jesús Broca. Deactivated C Fernando Villalobos, who may be activated starting on Nov. 27, and RHP Luis Cabrera takes his place on the active roster.

Algodoneros de Guasave – RHP Jonathan Haab is hereby deactivated. He may be activated on Dec. 6, and RHP Jorge Pérez takes his place on the active roster. RHP Mario García is deactivated. He may be activated on Dec. 3, and RHP Víctor Buelna takes his place on the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 25, LHP Miguel Peña is deactivated. He may be activated on Dec. 2, and LHP Saúl Vázquez takes his place on the active roster.

Tomateros de Culiacan – Retroactive to Nov. 17, deactivated RHP Cristhofer Lozoya, who may be activated starting Nov. 27, and added LHP Juan Pablo López to the active roster.

Venados de Mazatlan – Deactivated RHP Jesús Ríos, who may be activated on Nov. 27, and RHP Jonathan Bernal takes his place on the active roster.

Jaguares de Nayarit – Deactivated RHP Marco Fregozo, who may be activated Nov. 27, and added RHP Natanael Garabito to the active roster.

Charros de Jalisco – Deactivated RHP Axel Muñoz, who may be activated on Nov. 27, and RHP Gael Bojórquez takes his place on the active roster.
