Caneros de Los Mochis 4, Yaquis de Obregon 1 – A fifth-inning grand slam by Asael Sanchez provided all the offense the Caneros would need on opening night. Odrisamer Despaigne allowed a leadoff single to Eric Filia to start the fifth, then issued a one-out walk to Leonys Martin. Manuel Chavez came on to replace Despaigne with one out and runners at first and second, but immediately loaded the bases with a six-pitch walk to Leonys Martin, and then left a fastball over the heart of the plate to Sanchez.

Aguilas de Mexicali 5, Charros de Jalisco 1 – David Reyes allowed three hits in five shutout innings, and Luis Santos drove in a pair of insurance runs in the eighth with a single to left for Mexicali. Yadir Drake had an RBI double for the Aguilas in the bottom of the first, and an RBI single from Cade Gotta in the seventh scored Irving Lopez with the go-ahead run.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 6, Tucson Baseball Team 1 – Harold Ramirez had three RBIs, hitting a sacrifice fly in the third that scored a run and a two-run single in the fourth. Starter Wilmer Rios went 5 1/3 innings for Hermosillo, allowing one run on four hits, walking two and striking out three.

Algodoneros de Guasave 5, Tomateros de Culiacan 2 – Anthony Garcia had a pair of RBIs, one from a sac fly and one from a single, and Orlando Pina had a pair as well, drawing a bases-loaded walk and hitting a solo homer as the Algodoneros won their season opener at home.

Venados de Mazatlan 6, Jaguares de Nayarit 4 – The Venados spoiled the home opener for the Jaguares, who moved from Monterrey to Tepic in the offseason, torching the Jaguares’ pitchers for 14 hits. Andres Alvarez and Kennys Vargas each went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for Mazatlan. Jesse Castillo hit a solo homer in the eighth for Nayarit.
