LAMP: Caneros de Los Mochis Remain Undefeated; Charros de Jalisco Blow Out Hermosillo

Caneros de Los Mochis 2, Yaquis de Obregon 1 – Felix Stevens’ RBI triple in the eighth got Yasmany Tomas home with the winning run for Los Mochis, who improved to 4-0 with the win. Five Los Mochis pitchers combined to allow one run on four hits in the game, walking four and striking out eight. Allen Cordoba scored Obregon’s lone run with a solo homer in the top of the fifth.

Charros de Jalisco 10, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 2 – Billy Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a homer, an RBI, and two runs scored, and the Charros got their first win of the season on Wednesday night. A five-run bottom of the fifth put Jalisco ahead for good, with Jack Mayfield and Michael Wielansky each hitting two-run doubles in the frame. Mayfield went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the game, and is 6-for-16 on the young season, his second in Jalisco.

Aguilas de Mexicali 6, Sultanes de Monterrey 0 (5 1/2 innings) – Alejandro Mejia went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as Mexicali (3-2) won a rain-shortened game in Monterrey. The Sultanes (2-3) managed just four baserunners, getting three hits and a walk.

Tomateros de Culiacan 3, Algodoneros de Guasave 1 – Dwight Smith Jr. clubbed his second homer of the season, breaking a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth and pushing the Tomateros’ record to 3-1. Esteban Quiroz also homered for Culiacan, which sits one game back of Los Mochis. Starter Aldo Montes allowed one run on six hits in six innings of work for Culiacan, walking two and striking out one.

Mayos de Navajoa 4, Venados de Mazatlan 3 – Sergio Perez’ three-run homer in the top of the ninth gave the Mayos (2-2) a 4-3 lead, and Charlie Hasty retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth for Navajoa. Alex Liddi went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Mazatlan, which fell to 2-2.
