Caneros de Los Mochis (8-2) 6, Naranjeros de Hermosillo (8-2) 2 – There’s nothing like waiting until the last minute, or inning as the case may be. That’s what the Caneros did, scoring all six of their runs in the bottom of the eighth to regain a share of first place from Hermosillo Saturday night. A sacrifice bunt by Reivaj Garcia and a sac fly by Gabriel Gutierrez gave Hermosillo a 2-0 lead in the sixth, but the Caneros scored six in the bottom of the eighth. Yasmany Tomas hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Dayson Croes, and a balk by Hermosillo’s Luis Marquez sent Isaac Rodriguez in to tie the game. Asael Sanchez then doubled with the bases loaded to give Felix Fermin’s club a 5-2 lead, and Rodolfo Amador’s single scored Sanchez.
Aguilas de Mexicali (6-4) 5, Algodoneros de Guasave (2-8) 1 – Norberto Obeso went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs and Yadiel Hernandez drove in a run with a sac fly and reached on an error with two outs, getting another run home as the Aguilas cruised by Guasave. The Algodoneros managed just five hits and stranded eight runners as they fell into a tie for ninth place with Mazatlan.
Charros de Jalisco (6-4) 12, Jaguares de Nayarit (5-5) 6 – The Charros got out to 7-0 lead after just four innings and held kept adding runs as they improved to two games over .500. Bligh Madris had a three-run home for Jalisco in the bottom of the second as part of a 3-for-4 night with four RBIs with two runs scored, and Carlos Mendivil went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and three runs scored.
Yaquis de Obregon (6-4) 15, Tucson Baseball Team (4-6) 7 – Victor Mendoza hit a grand slam in the top of the first to give the Yaquis a 4-0 lead, but Tucson answered back in the bottom of the inning, getting a run home on a sac fly by Jose Urena and three more on a bases-loaded double by Alexis Wilson. Obregon scored three in the fourth on a bases-loaded triple by Riley Unroe, six in the fifth behind RBI singles from Kevin Villavicencio, Allen Cordoba, and Unroe, and two more in the sixth to put the game away. Unroe and Victor Mendoza each had four RBIs for Obregon.
Venados de Mazatlan (2-8) 5, Tomateros de Culiacan (5-5) 2 – Ramiro Pena went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles and a solo homer, and Kennys Vargas chipped in with an RBI double as Mazatlan got their second win of the season. Ramon Rios went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and J.P. Martinez hit an RBI triple for the Tomateros.
