LAMP: Caneros Hang On To Edge Aguilas; Long Balls Push Jaguares Past Yaquis

Caneros de Los Mochis (17-11) 5, Aguilas de Mexicali (13-15) 4 – Rodolfo Amador went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, clubbing a two-run homer in the fourth to tie the game at two apiece as the Caneros came from behind to top Mexicali, rallying for three runs in the top of the ninth. Carlos Soto’s sac fly got Diego Soto home in the ninth to tie the game at three, and then Dayson Croes’ two-run double scored Amador and Aaron Lugo with the go-ahead runs. Still, the Aguilas battled back. In the bottom of the ninth, Alex Mejia’s one-out single got Norberto Obeso home to cut the lead to a single run, but Yadir Drake grounded into a fielder’s choice at short and then Philip Evans flew out to left to end the game.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo (17-11) 9, Venados de Mazatlan (8-20) 2 – Harold Ramirez continued his spree against the Venados, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs, hitting a two-run single in the sixth, and Willie Calhoun hit a three-run homer later in the sixth for the Naranjeros. Five Hermosillo pitchers combined to bullpen the game, holding Mazatlan to six hits and four walks.

Tomateros de Culiacan (15-13) 8, Algodoneros de Guasave (10-18) 5 – Joey Meneses went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, hitting a triple in the third and singling home two runs in the sixth as the Tomateros topped the Algodoneros. Luis Juarez hit a solo homer in the sixth for Culiacan, and former Major League starter Luis Cessa allowed two runs, only one of them earned, on five hits in five innings of work, walking two and striking out four.

Charros de Jalisco (16-12) 11, Tucson Baseball Team (11-17) 3 – Bligh Madris hit his fifth homer of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth, and Mateo Gil added a three-run homer of his own as the Charros made short work of Tucson at Estadio Panamericano. Gil went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs, and Madris kept the league lead in RBIs by driving in three.

Jaguares de Nayarit (15-13) 12, Yaquis de Obregon (18-10) 4 – The Jaguares mauled the Yaquis, clubbing four homers as they improved to two games over .500. Jesse Castillo and Niko Vasquez hit solo homers in the fifth, Francisco Acuna hit a two-run shot in the seventh, and Jose Orozco hit a three-run homer in the eighth for Nayarit, and starter Grant Wetherbee threw seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in the win,
