LAMP: Caneros Win Series, Earn Berth In Caribbean Series

The Caneros de Los Mochis will represent Mexico at the 2023 Caribbean Series.

They punched their ticket to Venezuela with a 5-0 win over Algodoneros de Guasave SAturday night to win the best-of-seven Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico championship series four games to two.

Nick Struck threw seven innings of one-hit, shutout ball, walking two and striking out four for the Caneros, and Fabian Cota came out of the bullpen, allowing one hit in two innings of work to close the door on the Algodoneros.

Yasmani Tomas doubled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, scoring Bruce Maxwell, Wagner Lagrange and Isaac Rodriguez to give the Caneros a 3-0 lead. They added two more in the home half of the fifth.

The 2023 Caribbean Series will be played in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela from February 2-10 and broadcast on ESPNDeportes.

Mexico will open the 2023 Caribbean Series on February 2 vs. the Dominican Republic at Estadio La Rinconada.
