LAMP: Charros de Jalisco, Caneros de Los Mochis Fall Into Tie For Second, One Game Back

Algodoneros de Guasave (11-20) 5, Yaquis de Obregon (20-12) 1 – In their first game under new manager Ramon Orantes, the Algodoneros took down the LAMP’s top team behind six scoreless innings from starter Kyle Tyler, who allowed six hits, two walks, and struck out five. Leo Heras hit a two-run homer for Guasave in the sixth, and Drew Avans had an RBI triple for the Algodoneros in the win.

Jaguares de Nayarit (19-13) 5, Charros de Jalisco (17-15) 3 – An eighth-inning solo homer by Ricardo Valenzuela and an RBI single by Randy Romero that same inning got the Jaguares past the Charros and into a tie for second with Los Mochis with two games to go in the first half. Nine pitchers combined for Nayarit to hold the Charros to six hits, and Jalisco scored all three runs in the third, an inning punctuated by Reynaldo Rodriguez’ two-run homer.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo (18-14) 9, Caneros de Los Mochis (17-15) 3 – Five runs in the sixth and four more in the eighth got the Naranjeros into sole possession of third place, just two games back of Obregon with two games remaining in the first half of the season. Harold Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, driving in Hermosillo’s first run in the sixth with a single that scored Jasson Atondo. TT Bowens followed with a double that scored Edson Garcia, and Jesus Loya clubbed his second homer of the year, a three-run shot to give the Naranjeros a 5-3 lead. Leonys Martin’s three-run homer, his seventh of the year, came in the bottom of the first for Los Mochis.

Aguilas de Mexicali (16-16) 8, Tucson Baseball Team (12-20) 0 – David Reyes threw six scoreless innings, allowing three hits, a walk, and striking out two, as the Aguilas stifled the Baseball Team, holding them to just five hits, all singles. An RBI single from Bobby Bradley got Mexicali on the board in the top of the fourth, and Julian Leon had the first of two RBI singles in the fourth. Ren Tachioka and Yadir Drake each had RBI doubles for Mexicali in the win.

Venados de Mazatlan (11-21) 1, Tomateros de Culiacan (17-15) 0 – Nolan Kingham threw six scoreless innings for the Venados, allowing four hits and three walks, and three relievers combined to hold the slim lead for three innings, allowing just one walk as the Venados squished the Tomateros. Manny Barreda threw seven innings for Culiacan, allowing one run on six hits and two walks and striking out four. Miles Simington’s double in the top of the fifth sent Juan Kirk home with the game’s only run.

Transactions for Nov. 20

Aguilas de Mexicali – Retroactive to No. 19, deactivated RHP Yahir Gámez, who may be activated son Nov. 21, and IF Gilberto Carrera takes his place on the active roster.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo – RHP Sergio Rodríguez is inactive. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and RHP Orlando González takes his place on the active roster. IF Axel Nieblas is inactive. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and RHP Enrique Castillo takes his place on the active roster.

Caneros de Los Mochis – IF Ray Barreras is inactive, but we anticipate he will be reactivated on Nov. 21. OFNicholas Williams takes his place on the active roster.

Algodoneros de Guasave – Fired manager José Moreno and coach José Nieves. Named Ramón Orantes interim manager.

Tomateros de Culiacan – Deactivated RHP Pedro Reyes, who may be activated starting on Nov. 21, and RHP Clay Helvey takes his place on the active roster.

Venados de Mazatlan – RHP Jonathan Bernal is placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and RHP Irving Medina takes his place on the active roster. C Jorge Morales is placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and rRHP Jesús Ríos takes his place on the active roster. LHP Guillermo Arvizu is placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and IF Carlos Tirado takes his place on the active roster.

Jaguares de Nayarit – Retroactive to Nov. 15, deactivated RHP Daniel Martínez, who may be activated starting Nov. 25, and RHP Porfirio Guerrero takes his place on the active roster.

Charros de Jalisco – LHP Luis Ángel Rodríguez is inactive. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and RHP Gerardo Carrillo takes his place on the active roster. RHP Axel Muñoz is inactive. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and LHP Isaías Félix takes his place on the active roster.
