Tomateros de Culiacan 7, Sultanes de Monterrey 3 – Dwight Smith Jr.’s third homer of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth that scored Esteban Quiroz and Joey Meneses, put the Tomateros (8-2) ahead for good, as they cruised to their eighth win of the year and maintained possession of first place. Smith went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Meneses went 2-for-3 witha. double, two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored. Dustin Peterson hit a three-run homer for Monterrey, which fell to 4-6.
Caneros de Los Mochis 8, Algodoneros de Guasave 4 – Eric Filia went 2-for-3 with two runs scored three RBIs and hit his first homer of the winter as the Caneros improved to 7-3. Felix Stevens doubled in the fifth, sending Isaac Rodriguez home with the winning run. The Algodoneros fell to 3-7 with the loss, putting them in a tie for ninth place with Mazatlan, five games back of Culiacan.
Charros de Jalisco 3, Yaquis de Obregon 2 (11 Innings) – Reynaldo Rodriguez drove in Billy Hamilton with a single to center in the bottom of the 11th to give the Charros their fourth win of the year. Hamilton stole his sixth base of the year, taking second in the bottom of the first. Obregon’s Fernando Villegas hit his second homer of the year, a solo shot in the sixth.
Naranjeros de Hermosillo 3, Mayos de Navojoa 2 – An RBI double by Brandon Valenzuela and an RBI single by Agustin Murillo, both in the seventh, pushed the Naranjeros (6-4) past the Mayos and two games above .500. Hermosillo starter Robert Stock allowed four hits over eight innings of work, allowing two runs, walking none and fanning eight.
Venados de Mazatlan 7, Aguilas de Mexicali 6 – Dilson Herrera and Niko Vasquez each homered for Mazatlan, which won for just the third time this season, putting them in a tie for ninth. Alex Mejia went 3-for-3 with a run, and RBI, and a walk for Mexicali (6-4).
