LAMP: Hermosillo, Los Mochis Improve to 2-0; Jalisco, Culiacan Get First Win of Season

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 9, Tucson Baseball Team 4 – Willie Calhoun went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, a run scored, and a walk as the Naranjeros spoiled the Tucson Baseball Team’s home opener, which was played in Hermosillo due to visa issues making the team unable to play in the United States.

Former Major Leaguer Touki Toussaint went 4 2/3 innings for Hermosillo, allowing three runs, two of them earned, on seven hits, striking out three and walking none.

Gaige Howard went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs for Tucson, which fell to 0-2.

Caneros de Los Mochis 6, Yaquis de Obregon 0 – Asael Sanchez hit his second grand slam in as many nights, going 1-for-3 with two walks, a run scored, and four RBIs as the Caneros improved to 2-0.

Starter Omar Araujo allowed two hits and three walks in five shutout innings for Los Mochis, and four Caneros relievers combined to throw four perfect innings in relief to shut the door.

Charros de Jalisco 8, Aguilas de Mexicali 5 – Edwin Diaz went 2-for-3 with a double and a homer, driving in three runs and scoring one, and Johneshwy Fargas went 4-for-5 with an RBI as the Charros got their first win of the 2025-26 season.

Trailing 8-1, Jalisco scored four runs in the top of the ninth with two outs, getting a two-run homer from Julian Leon to start the rally and got the tying run to the plate, but Alex Mejia flew out to Fargas in center field to end the game.

Tomateros de Culiacan 6, Algodoneros de Guasave 5 – Luis Verdugo went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI and Orlando Martinez had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored as the Tomateros battled back from a 4-1 deficit to win for the first time in the 2025-26 season.

Starter Manny Barreda threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts for Culican.

Jaguares de Nayarit 2, Venados de Mazatlan 0 – Six Nayarit pitchers scattered five hits and five walks, shutting out the Venados for the franchise’s first win as the Jaguares.

A wild pitch by Mazatlan starter Nolan Kingham in the top of the third allowed Brandon Villareal to score, and two batters later, Kingham hit Marcos Castañon with the bases loaded to push Randy Romero across with the Jaguares second run.
