LAMP: Logjam In the Middle As Tomateros de Culiacan, Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Charros de Jalisco Tied For Fourth

Yaquis de Obregon (20-11) 7, Algodoneros de Guasave (10-21) 3 – A fourth-inning single by Riley Unroe scored Santiago Chavez, and Roberto Valenzuela’s grounder to third was thrown away by Guasave’s Orlando Pina, allowing two more runs to score as the Yaquis held on to first place. Unroe went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Chavez went 2-for-4, scoring twice and hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth.

Caneros de Los Mochis (19-12) 6, Naranjeros de Hermosillo (17-14) 3 – Leonys Martin went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a walk, and an RBI, and Eric Filia went 3-for-5 and scored twice as the Caneros kept pace with Obregon. Starter Darel Torres threw six innings for Los Mochis, allowing two runs, one of them earned, on four hits, walking one and striking out seven. TT Bowens went 2-for-3 and scored two runs for the Naranjeros, who fell into a tie for fourth place with the loss.

Jaguares de Nayarit (18-13) 10, Charros de Jalisco (17-14) 3 – Three big innings were the difference for Nayarit, which moved into sole possession of third place with a dominant win over Jalisco. Jesse Castillo’s two-run double in the first got the Jaguares a lead, and they added four in the sixth, two on a homer by Brandon Villareal and another on an RBI double by Cesar Mendoza. Castillo singled home another pair in the eighth and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, while Jacob Rhinesmith went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Tomateros de Culiacan (17-14) 8, Venados de Mazatlan (10-21) 3 – A five-run fourth inning was key for Culiacan, which moved into a three-way tie for fourth place with the win. In the big inning, Poncho Ruiz singled home Fernando Villegas and Ichiro Cano, a double by Ramon Rios scored Ruiz and Luis Verdugo, and a solo homer by Orlando Martinez gave the Tomateros a 6-3 lead.

Aguilas de Mexicali (15-16) 9, Tucson Baseball Team (12-19) 1 – Yadir Drake, Alex Mejia, and Julian Leon each had two RBIs for the Aguilas, and Alejandro Flores hit a solo homer as Mexicali made short work of Tucson. Agustin Ruiz’ second homer of the season was the lone highlight for the Baseball Team.

Transactions for Nov. 20

Tucson Baseball Team – Retroactive to Nov. 17, deactivated RHP Jake Gozzo, who may be activated starting Nov. 27, and OF Alejandro Quezada is added to the active roster.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo – RHP Orlando González and LHP Jorge Rodríguez are inactive and may be activated on Nov. 20. RHP Rolando Mora and RHP José Albertos are added to the active roster.

Algodoneros de Guasave – Retroactive to Nov. 17, deactivated LHP Vidal Sotelo, who may be activated starting Nov. 24, and C Brandon Jaime is added to the active roster.

Tomateros de Culiacan – Effective immediately, we are deactivating right-handed pitcher Axel Sauceda, who we agree may be activated starting November 20th, and right-handed pitcher Cristhofer Lozoya takes his place on the active roster.

Venados de Mazatlan – RHP Jesús Ríos has been placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 20, and THP Jonathan Bernal was added the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 15, IF Carlos Tirado has been placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 20, and C Jorge Morales was added the active roster.

Charros de Jalisco – OF Billy Hamilton is placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 24, and RHP Jonathan López is added to the active roster. RHP Gerardo Carrillo is placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 20, and IF Luis Carlos Martínez is added to the active roster.
