Caneros de Los Mochis (5-2) 2, Venados de Mazatlan (1-6) 0 – Yasmany Tomas drove in the one run the Caneros would need with a first-inning single that scored Eric Filia, and an inning later, Carlos Soto’s RBI double scored Leonys Martin to give Los Mochis some insurance. Omar Araujo threw six scoreless innings for Los Mochis, allowing four hits, striking out six and walking none, and four relievers combined to allow three hits, two walks, and no runs. The Venados stranded six and went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position as they fell to 1-6.
Naranjeros de Hermosillo (5-2) 4, Yaquis de Obregon (4-3) 2 – Starter Touki Toussaint threw 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks and striking out six as the Naranjeros kept pace with Los Mochis atop the standings. Jasson Atondo went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, hitting an RBI single in the fifth and a sac fly in the seventh, while Willie Calhoun had an RBI single in the second and Jose Cardona doubled home a run in the fifth. Juan Carlos Gamboa hit a two-run homer off Toussaint for the Yaquis’ only runs of the game.
Tomateros de Culiacan (4-3) 4, Jaguares de Nayarit (4-3) 3 (11 Innings) – Orlando Martinez’ 11th inning single scored Poncho Ruiz with the game-ending run as Culiacan took the second game of three from Nayarit. Tucson Baseball Team (3-4) 4, Algodoneros de Guasave (2-5) 1 – The Algodoneros took a 1-0 lead into the top of the ninth and allowed four runs in the final frame as Tucson got a two-run single from Edgar Lugo, Gaige Howard was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Ramon Mendoza drew a bases-loaded walk. Jorge Flores scored Guasave’s lone run on a wild pitch in the sixth.
Aguilas de Mexicali (3-4) 8, Charros de Jalisco (4-3) 2 – David Reyes allowed two runs over seven innings for the Aguilas, giving up five hits, striking out four, and walking none, recording his 600th career strikeout in the LAMP. Reyes is now second in K’s in Aguilas’ history, trailing only Vicente Palacios, who fanned 709. After allowing an RBI double to Reynaldo Rodriguez and a triple to Japhet Amador that scored Rodriguez, Reyes settled down behind the Aguilas’ offensive outbursts in the third and fourth. Norberto Obeso had an RBI double and Moises Gutierrez contributed an RBI single in the third as the Aguilas took the lead, and four runs on the third, one on a single by Ren Tachioka and two from double from Yadir Drake, gave Mexicali plenty of insurance.
