Naranjeros de Hermosillo (35-23) 9, Venados de Mazatlan (19-39) 2 – Harold Ramirez went 4-for-5, hitting a single, three doubles, scoring twice, and driving in three runs as the Naranjeros slaughtered the Venados on Saturday night. Starter Wilmer Rios allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings, striking out three, and the Hermosillo bullpen was perfect over three innings to secure the win.
Charros de Jalisco (34-24) 7, Tucson Baseball Team (19-39) 3 – Cleanup hitter Julian Ornelas hit his eighth homer of the year in the top of the first, hitting a grand slam that gave the Charros a 4-0 lead and put them well on their way to a fifth straight win. They added insurance with an RBI single by the league RBI leader Bligh Madris in the seventh and two more in the ninth. Starter Ronald Medrano allowed one run on seven hits and two walks, striking out one over 5 2/3 innings for Jalisco.
Jaguares de Nayarit (34-34) 7, Yaquis de Obregon (35-23) 1 – Cito Norzagaray went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI singles, a run scored and two RBIs as the Jaguares handed Obregon its third straight loss. Starter Jeremy Rhoades allowed one run on six hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings, striking out three for Nayarit.
Caneros de Los Mochis (33-25) 4, Aguilas de Mexicali (29-29) 3 – Nick Williams hit a solo homer in the fourth and Yurisbel Gracial had RBI singles in the third, seventh, and ninth innings to give Chris Coste’s Caneros a third straight win. Seven Los Mochis pitchers combined to allow three runs on five hits, striking out nine. Estevan Florial hit his fourth homer of the year for Mexicali, a two-run shot in the eighth that tied the game at three.
Tomateros de Culiacan (33-25) 6, Algodoneros de Guasave (21-37) 5 (10 innings) – The Tomateros de Culiacan erased a five-run deficit over the final five innings. A pair of RBI singles, one from Dwight Smith Jr. and another from Fernando Villegas, got Culiacan on the board in the sixth. A bases-loaded walk to J.P. Martinez and a sac fly by Ramon Rios in the eighth cut the deficit to one and brought Smith back to the plate with the tying run on second. Smith rapped a single to center field, and Edgar Robles scored to tie the game. Fernando Flores hit a single in the bottom of the 10th to drive home Orlando Martinez with the winning run.
