Naranjeros de Hermosillo 6, Yaquis de Obregon 2 – Alex Dickerson’s three-run homer, his third of the year, gave Hermosillo a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth, and they held on to win their eighth straight game and improve to 29-18 overall, one game behind first-half winner Culiacan. Starter Juan Pablo Oramas threw six innings, allowing two runs on two hits, walking one and fanning five for the Naranjeros, who are 9-1 in their last 10 games and 10-2 in the second half.
Venados de Mazatlan 8, Tomateros de Culiacan 3 – The Venados jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Culiacan could get a run across, getting two-run homers from Phillip Ervin in the fifth and Ramiro Pena in the sixth. Pena also sparked a three-run second inning for Mazatlan, hitting an RBI double that was followed by a pair of RBI singles from Luis Aviles Jr. and Jose Gaitan.
Charros de Jalisco 7, Algodoneros de Guasave 3 – Jack Mayfield’s bat remains the hottest in the LAMP, and the former Los Angeles Angel went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs as Jalisco won for the eighth time in its last 10 games. Mayfield leads the LAMP with a .351 average, and his teammate Reynaldo Rodriguez is second in the LAMP with 40 RBIs, picking up another with a fourth-inning RBI single.
Caneros de Los Mochis 6, Sultanes de Monterrey 4 – The Caneros avoided being swept by lowly Monterrey, but had to hang on to get it done, scoring six runs in the first four innings but managing just two hits and three walks over the final six innings, while Monterrey chipped away at the lead, ultimately running out of innings.
Aguilas de Mexicali 6, Mayos de Navojoa 1 – Recently returned infielder Kennys Vargas hit a solo homer that put Mexicali ahead, and the Aguilas piled on four more to get back to .500 in the second half of the season.
