LAMP: Obregon Tops Hermosillo In 11-10 Shootout; Four Teams Now 4-2

Yaquis de Obregon (4-2) 11, Naranjeros de Hermosillo (4-2) 10 – Trailing by nine runs as they came to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Naranjeros de Hermosillo rallied and nearly tied the game, scoring three in the eighth and five in the ninth, ultimately losing by a run. Roberto Valenzuela and Sebastián Elizalde each went 3-for-4 and a run scored for Obregon, waith Valenzuela driving in three runs and Elizalde two. Jesus Loya hit a two-run single in the eighth for Hermosillo, and Willie Calhoun’s three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth got the Naranjeros within one. In the bottom of the ninth, Reivaj Garcia singled to put the tying run on base with one out, but Obregon’s Samuel Zazueta struck out TT Bowens and Angel Ramirez to end the game.

Caneros de Los Mochis (4-2) 3, Venados de Mazatlan (1-5) 1 – A sacrifice bunt by Juan Mora squeezed Carlos Arellano across the plate in the fifth for a 1-0 Mazatlan lead, but that was all the Venados could muster. Eric Filia’s sixth inning RBI double scored Dayson Croes, a seventh inning sac fly by Marco Jaime scored Leonys Martin, and then Martin hit a solo homer in the eighth to give the Caneros a 3-1 lead that held up. Los Mochis starter Jonatan Bernal threw five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three. His counterpart, Darrel Torres, allowed one run on one hit, walking three and striking out six.

Charros de Jalisco (4-2) 10, Aguilas de Mexicali (2-4) 7 – Bligh Madris went 4-for-5 for the Charros with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs, and Johneshwy Fargas went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two stolen bases as the Charros got their fourth win of the year. Julian Ornelas hit a solo homer in the third for Jalisco. Yadiel Hernandez hit his second homer of the year for Mexicali, a two-run homer in the first.

Jaguares de Nayarit (4-2) 4, Tomateros de Culiacan (2-4) 3 – J.P. Martinez went 3-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer in the fifth inning as the Jaguares joined the logjam atop the LAMP. Aldo Montes threw five scoreless innings for Nayarit, allowing five hits, three walks, and striking out two. Ricardo Valenzuela went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and Jacob Amaya hit a two-run homer for Culiacan.

Tucson Baseball Team (2-4) 6, Algodoneros de Guasave (2-4) 5 – Anthony Garcia’s grand slam in the bottom of the third gave Guasave a lead, but Tucson promptly took the lead for good in the top of the fourth, scoring six. Missael Rivera got plunked with the bases loaded, Aldo Nunez singled to score Bobby Bradley, Jesus Fabela drew a bases-load walk, and Gaige Howard hit a three-run double to give Tucson the lead for good.
