LAMP: Reynaldo Rodriguez Returning To Mexicali

The Aguilas de Mexicali of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico announced on Thursday that Reynaldo Rodriguez will play with the organization for the third consecutive year. 

Rodriguez, 37, is playing with Tigres de Quintana Roo of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol for the fourth consecutive season and helped them earn the sixth seed in the LMB’s Zona Sur playoffs. 

Rodriguez has played in 76 games for the Tigres this season, hitting .368 with 648 plate appearances recording 113 hits, 18 doubles, 16 home runs, 62 RBI, and 25 walks including a 1.002 OPS. 

Rodriguez played in the 2023 World Baseball Classic with Colombia back in March for the second time in his career. 

During the tournament, Rodriguez played first base defensively in all four games in Pool C at Chase Field in Phoenix. 

Rodriguez hit .313 in all four games with 16 at-bats recording five hits, one double, one home run, five RBI, three strikeouts and no walks along with a .876 OPS. 

During the winter league season last year, Rodriguez played well in the Liga Profesional de Béisbol Colombia for Vaqueros De Monteria, and earlier in the season with Aguilas de Mexicali in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico in 2022-23. He played in 57 games with Aguilas and had 241 plate appearances, recording 57 hits, four home runs and 25 RBI before heading to Colombia. Rodriguez played in 11 games and batted .455 for Vaqueros De Monteria during their playoffs before joining Caneros de Los Mochis of Mexico’s Liga ARCO Mexicana Del Pacifico circuit for the 2023 Caribbean Series in Caracas, Venezuela. 

Rodriguez batted .200 playing in eight games of the 2023 Caribbean Series with 34 plate appearances, recording five hits, one double, one home run, eight walks and four RBI helping Mexico earn third place during the tournament. 

Rodriguez was selected to the 2022 Caribbean Series All-Tournament Team and won the MVP Award after helping Caimanes de Barranquilla win the nation’s first Caribbean Series title in Colombia’s third year participating in the event, beating Gigantes del Cibao of the Liga de Beisbol Profesional de la Republica Dominicana in the championship game 4-1. 

During the 2022 Caribbean Series, Rodriguez played in seven games, batting .500 with a 1.267 OPS in 28 plate appearances recording 13 hits, three doubles, one home run, and two walks. 

Rodriguez will be playing in his fifth season in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico circuit and has also played in Liga Venezolona de Beisbol Professional as well during his winter league career. 

Between nine seasons in all three winter leagues in Rodriguez’s career, he is hitting .314 playing in 714 games recording 839 hits, 159 doubles, 10 triples, 115 home runs, 490 RBI, 96 stolen bases, and 254 walks including an OPS at .884. 

The Liga Arco Mexicana del Pacifico 2023-24 regular season will begin on October 13 during the middle of the Major League Baseball 2023 Postseason. 

Aguilas de Mexicali will open up against Sultanes de Monterrey in their first home game of the 2023-24 season at Estadio Nido de los Águilas on October 13 at 11:30 p.m. EDT.
