Naranjeros de Hermosillo (3-1) 13, Tucson Baseball Team (1-3) 6 – Hermosillo first baseman Darick Hall went 3-for-5 with six RBIs, hitting a pair of two-run singles and a two-run homer as the Naranjeros cruised past Tucson, which played as the home team in Hermosillo. Juan Castro’s squad also got doubles from Raul Garcia, Jasson Atondo, TT Bowens, and Harold Ramirez as they improved to 3-1. Gaige Howard went 2-for-2 with three walks and two RBIs for Tucson.
Jaguares de Nayarit (3-1) 4, Caneros de Los Mochis (2-2) 2 – Ricardo Valenzuela went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Jaguares improved to 3-1 on the season, with the Nayarit pitchers holding Los Mochis to two runs on five hits and three walks. Jesse Castillo’s first-inning RBI single was his 800th career hit in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico. Los Mochis got both its runs from the long ball, getting solo homers in the third by Josh Rehwaldt and in the fifth by Aaron Lugo.
Charros de Jalisco (3-1) 7, Algodoneros de Guasave (1-3) 5 – Edwin Diaz went 2-for-2 with an RBI, a triple, two runs scored, and three walks as Jalisco topped Guasave in Zapopan. Batting in the nine hole for the Charros, Jose Aguilar went 2-for-3, hitting a three-run triple in the bottom of the seventh that put Jalisco ahead for good. Damon Dues went 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored for Guasave.
Aguilas de Mexicali (2-2) 6, Tomateros de Culiacan (2-2) – The Aguilas’ Cuban Connection — first baseman Yadir Drake and left fielder Yadiel Hernandez — combined to go 4-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Hernandez had an RBI single in the top of the first and Drake hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth. Starter Fernando Lozano went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk, striking out six. Culican got solo homers from Ramon Rios in the fifth and Brady Whalen in the eighth.
Yaquis de Obregon (2-2) 4, Venados de Mazatlan (1-3) 3 – Miguel Guzman went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI as the Yaquis got back to .500 on the young season. Felipe Gonzalez threw five innings, allowing two runs on four hits for the Yaquis, walking two and striking out six. Jose Gaitan had a first inning triple and later scored the game’s first run for Mazatlan.
