LAMP: Tomateros de Culiacan, Naranjeros de Hermosillo Extend Winning Streaks

Tomateros de Culiacan (30-21) 7, Tucson Baseball Team (17-34) 3 – Jon Singleton went 2-for-3 with a walk, hitting a solo homer in the third and a three-run homer in the fourth as the Tomateros won their fourth straight game and moved into a tie for first place overall. Luis Verdugo opened the scoring for Culiacan with a solo homer in the bottom of the second, and starter Aldo Montes allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings, striking out seven to get the cluba. two-game lead in the second half. Gaige Howard went 2-for-4 for Tucson with a double, his 12th two-bagger of the year, and Jesus Fabela and Ramon Mendoza each hit a solo homer for the Baseball Team.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo (30-21) 8, Aguilas de Mexicali (27-24) 5 – Harold Ramirez went 3-for-4 and scored three times, and Willie Calhoun went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs in the bottom of the first with a three-run homer, his ninth of the season, as the Naranjeros won their sixth straight game. Angel Ramirez drove in a pair of runs for Hermosillo with an eighth-inning single, and four relievers combined to allow one run on one hit over the final 4 1/3 innings, the only blemish being Yadir Drake’s solo homer in the top of the ninth.

Jaguares de Nayarit (29-22) 7, Venados de Mazatlan (18-33) 1 – Brandon Villareal went 3-for-4 and with a run scored and an RBI, and Francisco Acuna cracked a three-run double in the sixth as Nayarit breezed by Mazatlan Friday night. Four pitchers from the Jaguares bullpen allowed just two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings to stifle the Venados bats.

Charros de Jalisc0 (28-23) 4, Caneros de Los Mochis (28-23) 3 (10 Innings) – Tied 1-1 going into extra frames, the Charros got a sac fly from Francisco Cordoba, and a two-run single from Bligh Madris added insurance. The insurance was helpful come the bottom of the 10th when Rodolfo Amador hit a two-run homer to cut the lead to one, but the Charros held on. Starter Luis Payan threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings for Jalisco, allowing three hits, two walks, and notching two strikeouts, while the Caneros’ Darel Torres allowed one run on five hits and two walks, striking out seven over six innings.

Algodoneros de Guasave (19-32) 5, Yaquis de Obregon (29-22) 4 – Guasave’s offense score five runs over the final three innings, getting a two-run single in the seventh from Levi Jordan, a two-run homer in the eighth from Orlando Pina, and a solo homer in the ninth from Jordan to earn their 19th win of the season. Kevin Villavicenio and Taiki Sekine had back-to-back triples in the three-run fifth for Obregon.
