LAMP: Tomateros de Culiacan Shut Out Monterrey; Yaquis de Obregon Explode For 13 Runs In Win

Tomateros de Culiacan 6, Sultanes de Monterrey 0 – Connor Menez threw six hitless, scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking four, as Culican improved to 9-2. Joey Meneses went 1-for-3 with a run scored and drove in a pair, one by getting hit with a pitch with bases loaded in the second and another with an eighth inning sac fly.

Yaquis de Obregon 13, Charros de Jalisco 3 – The Yaquis scored 13 runs, the most in a game so far this season, manufacturing 11 and getting a pair on a two-run homer in the second inning by Jonathan Arauz. Arauz went 3-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIS. Carlos Martinez allowed three runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 5, Mayos de Navojoa 1 – Irving Lopez, Brandon Valenzuela, and Willie Calhoun drove in all of Hermosillo’s runs via the long ball as the Naranjeros improved to 7-4. Lopez hit a two-run shot to right field in the seventh, and Valenzuela hit a two-run homer to left in the eighth. Two batters later, Calhoun hit a solo homer to right to cap the scoring for the Naranjeros, who improved to 7-4 and get into a three-way tie for second place.

Algodoneros de Guasave 9, Caneros de Los Mochis 4 – Guasave got seven runs in the top of the fourth, capped by  a grand slam by Orlando Pina and a solo homer by Alexis Wilson, as they improved to 7-4. Pina went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. The Algodoneros bullpenned the game, using seven pitchers who combined to allow four runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Aguilas de Mexicali 11, Venados de Mazatlan 7 – Alejandro Mejia hit a pair of three-run homers, one in the top of the first and another in the top of the fifth, as the Aguilas improved to 7-4. Ramiro Pena went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored for Mazatlan, which fell to 3-8.
