Tomateros de Culiacan 5, Caneros de Los Mochis 2 – The season is already six games old, but the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico already has a battle for first place, and the Tomateros (5-1) drew first blood on Friday. Dwight Smith Jr.’s two-run single in the bottom of the fourth got Culiacan on the board, and Ramon Rios’ single drove in Smith with the winning run later in the frame. Rodolfo Amador and Alan Espinoza each homered for Los Mochis, which fell to 4-2 with the loss.

Sultanes de Monterrey 3, Yaquis de Obregon 1 – A two-run double in the third from Gulfport, Miss.-native Bobby Bradley was enough to push the Sultanes past Obregon. Starter Noah Bremer went six scoreless innings for Monterrey, allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out three. Obregon’s lone run came in the ninth on an RBI single by Victor Mendoza.

Aguilas de Mexicali 1, Charros de Jalisco 0 – Norberto Obeso drove in the game’s only run in the bottom of the eighth, singling to right to score Luis Santos. The Aguilas improved to 4-2, and starter David Reyes struck out nine in seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and walking none. Jesus Cruz replaced Reyes, working one perfect inning to earn the win, and Jake Sanchez finished out the game, walking one in the ninth while earning a three-out save.
