LAMP: Tomateros de Culican Win, Extend Shutout Inning Streak to 18

Tomateros de Culiacan 5, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 0 – Dwight Smith Jr. went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI for the Tomateros, who lead the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico by three games at 15-3. Manny Barreda threw seven shutout innings, allowing three hits, five walks, and striking out four, and the Tomateros haven’t allowed a run in two full games. Andres Alvarez and Joey Meneses each hit solo homers for Culican in the seventh.

Caneros de Los Mochis 8, Charros de Jalisco 6 – A sixth-inning grand slam by Rodolfo Amador got Los Mochis back in the game, and they later tied it up at six on an eighth inning RBI double by Justin Dean. Eric Filia gave the Caneros the win with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, and Felix Fermin’s club improved to 12-6, maintaining sole possession of second place.

Aguilas de Mexicali 2, Yaquis de Obregon 0 – Former New York Yankee Luis Cessa allowed just two hits over seven shutout innings with five strikeouts. Clay Dungan’s RBI double in the ninth gave the Aguilas the go-ahead run, and they added another on a single from Wynton Bernard to improve to 11-7.

Venados de Mazatlan 14, Algodoneros de Guasave 2 – The Venados set new league-wide season highs for runs and hits, scoring 14 runs on 17 hits. The Venados scored five in the first and three in the second, chasing Guasave starter Jorge Perez after 1 1/3 innings. They added six more in the fifth. Eight of nine Mazatlan starters had a base hit, and seven of those eight had multi-hit games as the Venados pulled a half-game in front of last-place Monterrey.

Algodoneros de Guasave – Deactivated LHP Jesús Broca, who may be activated November 2, and added LHP Edwin Cervantes to the active roster. Deactivated LHP Ian Medina, who can be activated November 2, and added RHP Christian Crespo to the active roster. Venados de Mazatlan – Deactivated RHP Víctor Morales, who may be activated November 2, and added RHP Ernesto Borges to the active roster. Deactivated RHP Fernando Burgueño, who can be activated November 2, and added RF Joseph Rosa to the active roster. Signed José Loredo as a coach. Retroactive to October 28, deactivated IF Carlos Muñoz, who may be activated November 2, and added RHP Erick Casillas to the active roster. 

Charros de Jalisco – Deactivated RHP Dereck Rodríguez, who may be activated November 11, and added C Jesús Córdova to the active roster.
