LAMP: Venados de Mazatlan, Algodoneros de Guasave Emerge From Cellar With Wins

Naranjeros de Hermosillo (24-16) 1, Caneros de Los Mochis (22-18) 0 (10 Innings) – Seven Hermosillo pitchers combined to allow six hits and five walks over 10 scoreless innings, while the Caneros hurlers were just as stingy, allowing five hits and three walks. Ultimately, Agustin Murillo’s one-out single in the 10th with runners at the corners got Angel Ramirez home with the winning run, as the Naranjeros improved to 4-1 in in the second half.

Venados de Mazatlan (15-25) 7, Tomateros de Culiacan (20-20) 1 – Miles Simington went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, hitting RBI singles in the second and fourth innings, and Keven Lamas went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI as the Venados took the middle game from the Tomateros. Ace Jose Urquidy went six innings, allowing one run on five hits for the Venados, and the bullpen allowed two hits over three scoreless innings.

Jaguares de Nayarit (24-16) 14, Charros de Jalisco (21-19) 2 – Ricardo Valenzuela went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, notching an RBI single in the third and a two-run homer in the seventh, and Francisco Acuna went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs as the Jaguares mollywhopped the Charros on Saturday night. Jalisco starter Manny Banuelos went four innings, allowing nine runs, all of them earned, on nine hits, walking three and striking out three.

Yaquis de Obregon (25-15) 7, Tucson Baseball Team (14-26) 6 (12 Innings) – Allen Cordoba went 4-for-5 with a double and three singles, scored twice, and drove in three runs including two in extra innings, as the Yaquis remained atop of the overall standings and sent Tucson to the cellar. Samar Leyva homered for Tucson in the loss.

Algodoneros de Guasave (15-25) 11, Aguilas de Mexicali (20-20) 6 – A bases-loaded double in the sixth by Esteban Quiroz sent three runs home for Guasave, and Orlando Pina followed with an RBI single to score Quiroz as the Algodoneros clipped the Aguilas’ wings. Phillip Ervin went 3-for-3, scored three times and drove in three runs for Guasave. Yadir Drake went 3-for-4 for Mexicali, driving in the Aguilas’ first run with a single in the third and and three more with a three-run homer in the fifth.
