Yaquis de Obregon (21-12) 5, Venados de Mazatlan (11-22) 0 – Sebastian Elizalde went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and three singles as the Yaquis breezed by the Venados. With the win, the Yaquis clinched at least a tie for first place in the first half, while the loss keeps the Venados in a tie for ninth with Guasave.
Charros de Jalisco (18-15) 7, Algodoneros de Guasave (11-22) 4 – Michael Wielansky led off the game for the Charros with a solo homer and ended up going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs as the Charros assured themselves of a tie for fifth in the first half with the win.
Caneros de Los Mochis (20-13) 8, Jaguares de Nayarit (19-14) 2 – Nick Williams went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for Los Mochis, scoring twice and driving in three runs as the Caneros take sole possession of second place into the final day of the first half.
Naranjeros de Hermosillo (19-14) 5, Tucson Baseball Team (12-21) 1 – Willie Calhoun went 2-for-3, scored twice and drove in a run as Hermosillo took the series opener from Tucson.
Tomateros de Culiacan (17-15) at Aguilas de Mexicali (16-16) – Rain in Mexicali caused the first postponement of the 2025-26 Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico season. The game has been rescheduled for Saturday as part of a single-admission doubleheader.
The Standings Dance – The Yaquis de Obregon are in the catbird seat and can clinch the first half crown and get 10 playoff seeding points with a win against Mazatlan tonight. If Obregon loses and the Caneros de Los Mochis win on Saturday, they tie for first, with the head-to-head record between the two teams deciding the first half winner.
If Los Mochis loses Saturday’s game at Nayarit, the worst they can finish is fourth, but only if Hermosillo wins, which would put all the Caneros, Naranjeros, and Jaguares in a three-way tie for second, and Los Mochis would have to lose the tiebreaker with both teams to finish fourth.
If Hermosillo and Nayarit are tied after Saturday’s games, Hermosillo wins the tiebreaker with a 2-1 record against Nayarit.
At 18-15, the Charros de Jalisco could finish in a tie for third with Hermosillo and Nayarit or tied for fifth place with Culiacan following Saturday’s game against Guasave.
Behind the Charros, the Tomateros de Culiacan could finish tied for third if they win both games of Saturday’s doubleheader at Mexicali. A split would likely keep them in fifth place, while losing both games would launch the Aguilas past the Charros into fifth place, which is the best case scenario for Mexicali.
At 12-21, Tucson can finish eighth with a win at Hermosillo Saturday night. A loss could put them in a tie for ninth place.
The Venados de Mazatlan and Algodoneros de Guasave can finish, at best, tied for eighth place with a win combined with a Tucson loss. A win by either Guasave or Mazatlan and a loss by the other team, combined with a Tucson win, would give the winning team of Guasave or Mazatlan sole possession of ninth place and the losing team ownership of the basement.
