LAMP: Yaquis de Obregon, Jaguares de Nayarit Keep Streaks Alive, Deadlocked Atop Standings

Yaquis de Obregon (25-16) 6, Tucson Baseball Team (14-27) 4 – The Yaquis won their third straight on Sunday to complete a sweep of Tucson and improve to 4-2 in the second half. Allen Cordoba scored on a wild pitch to get Obregon on the board in the bottom of the first, and they added four more in the frame, getting a sac fly from Victor Mendoza and RBI singles from Alfredo Hurtado and Juan Carlos Gamboa. Tucson scored all four of its runs in the top of the sixth, with Gaige Howard hitting a two-run single.

Jaguares de Nayarit (25-16) 3, Charros de Jalisco (21-20) 1 – Jacob Rhinesmith hit a three-run homer for Nayarit, and Faustino Carrera threw 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks, striking out three as the Jaguares won their fifth straight and took control of first place in the second half. Jared Serna drove in Jalisco’s lone run with his fourth homer of the year, a solo homer in the seventh.

Caneros de Los Mochis (23-18) 7, Naranjeros de Hermosillo (24-17) 0 – Darel Torres allowed five runs and one walk over six scoreless innings, striking out three as the Caneros breezed by Hermosillo. Touki Toussaint had a rough outing for the Naranjeros, lasting just 1 2/3 innings and allowing five runs on five hits and two walks. Leonys Martin got the Caneros on the board with his ninth homer of the season, a solo homer in the top of the first, and Alejo Lopez hit a two-run homer in the third for Los Mochis.

Aguilas de Mexicali (21-20) 12, Algodoneros de Guasave (15-26) 1 – David Reyes allowed one run on five hits and three walks over eight innings and got plenty of run support as the Aguilas stomped the Algodoneros in the series finale. Cade Gotta went 3-for-4 and scored three times, Ren Tachioka went 2-for-4, scored once, and drove in three, and Julian Leon hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second.

Tomateros de Culiacan (21-20) 5, Venados de Mazatlan (15-26) 4 (10 Innings) – Orlando Martinez hit a sac fly in the 10th that got Valentin Hernandez home with the game-winner as the Tomateros got back above .500. J.P. Martinez had a pair of RBI singles for Culiacan and scored a run in the win. Tomateros starter Aldo Montes allowed one hit and two walks across five scoreless innings.
