LAMP: Yaquis de Obregon Maintain Control of First Place, Caneros de Los Mochis Remain One Game Behind

Yaquis de Obregon (19-11) 2, Algodoneros de Guasave (10-20) 1 – A wild pitch by Algodoneros reliever Luis Moreno allowed Sebastian Elizalde to scoot home with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, keeping the Yaquis a game in front of Los Mochis. Miguel Guzman drove in Kyren Paris for the first Obregon run in the bottom of the second with a ground out to first base. Obregon starter Orlando Lara allowed four hits in six scoreless innings of work, walking three and striking out three. Leo Heras drove in Guasave’s lone run with a sac fly in the top of the ninth.

Caneros de Los Mochis (18-12) 10, Naranjeros de Hermosillo (17-13) 6 – Harold Ramirez’ fifth homer of the year got the Naranjeros out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Hermosillo gave up the lead in the bottom of the inning. Leonys Martin hit his sixth homer of the year and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs for Los Mochis, while Rodolfo Amador hit a two-run homer in the first, Yasmany Tomas hit a solo homer in the seventh, and Carlos Soto’s solo homer in the ninth capped the win for the Caneros.

Jaguares de Nayarit (17-13) 2, Charros de Jalisco (17-13) 1 – Francisco Acuna doubled home Carlos Sepulveda in the sixth, and Ricardo Valenzuela singled home Acuna with the winning run later in the inning as the Jaguares and Charros fell into a tie for third place. Tirso Ornelas’ single drove in Mateo Gil with Jalisco’s lone run.

Tucson Baseball Team (12-18) 7, Aguilas de Mexicali (14-16) 3 – Marcos Valenzuela’s two-run triple in the third gave Tucson a 3-2 lead, and in the sixth, RBI doubles from Valenzuela and Ramon Mendoza and an RBI single from Jesus Fabela made it 7-2. Mexicali’s Yadir Drake went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in the loss.

Venados de Mazatlan (10-20) 5, Tomateros de Culiacan (16-14) 2 – Estamy Urena’s grand slam capped a five-run fifth inning for Mazatlan, which pulled into a tie for ninth with Guasave with the win. Ramiro Pena drove in the Venados’ first run with a single.

Transactions For Oct. 18

Aguilas de Mexicali – Martín Arzate is being released as a coach. Retroactive to Nov. 17, OF Cade Gotta is deactivated. He will be reactivated on Nov. 22, and OF Ren Tachioka is added to the active roster.

Tucson Baseball Team – Retroactive to Nov. 16, deactivated C Francisco Pérez, who may be activated Nov. 19, and RHP Oscar Soria is added to the active roster.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo – RHP Joel Ibarra has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and RHP Orlando González is added to the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 17, RHP Erich Uelmen has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 27, and OF Víctor Mascai is added to the active roster. Retroactive to Oct. 24, C Andrés Sosa has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and C César Salazar ias added to the active roster.

Yaquis de Obregon – Retroactive to Nov. 16, placed LHP Ariel Miranda on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 26, and RHP Rubén Alaniz is added to the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 17, placed RHP Devin Sweet on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 27, and RHP Nick Gardewine is added to the active roster.

Caneros de Los Mochis – Retroactive to Nov. 17, IF Dayson Croes has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 22, and RHP Markos Sánchez was added to the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 7, RHP Luis Miranda has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and IF Yasmany Tomás has been added to the active roster.

Algodoneros de Guasagve – RHP Kevin Ribón has been placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and IF Roberto Ramos has been added to the active roster in his place. Retroactive to Nov. 16, OF Wynton Bernard has been placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 21, and RHP Víctor Vargas has been added to the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 17, RHP Mario García has been placed on inactive status. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 24, and RHP Yosshel Hurtado has been added to the active roster. Tomateros de Culiacan – Retroactive to Nov. 17, RHP Cristhofer Lozoya has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and right-handed pitcher Axel Sauceda is added to the active roster. Retroactive to Nov. 17, OF Bryan Corral has been placed on the inactive list. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and RHP Keone Kela was added to the active roster.

Venados de Mazatlan – Retroactive to Oct. 29, RHP Edgar Rodríguez has been placed on the inactive roster. He is eligible to be activated on Nov. 19, and RHP Jesús Ríos was added to the active roster.
