LAMP: Yaquis de Obregon Maintain One-Game Overall Lead; Tomas Hits 11th Homer Of Season

Yaquis de Obregon (29-17) 8, Charros de Jalisco (26-23) 7 – Sebastian Elizalde had an RBI single and Roberto Valenzuela hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth, which saw the Yaquis score four runs to edge the Charros on Wednesday night. Overall, Valenzuela went 2-for-3, scored three times and drove in three runs for Obregon, while Elizalde had two hits and scored twice. Julian Ornelas went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBIs for Jalisco.

Tomateros de Culiacan (28-21) 9, Caneros de Los Mochis (28-21) 3 – J.P. Martinez hit a two-run homer in the top of the third, and Orlando Martinez went 3-for-5 with two RBI singles and a three-run homer, his seventh homer of the season, as the Tomateros tripled up the Caneros. Eric Filia had a two-run single, and Leonys Martin hit his league-leading 11th homer of the year in the fourth for Los Mochis.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo (28-21) 10, Algodoneros de Guasave (18-31) 4 – TT Bowens went 2-for-5, scored twice and drove in three runs and Edson Garcia hit a solo homer as the Naranjeros took the second game of the three-game set from Guasave and won their fourth straight. Starter Jose Samayoa threw five innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks and striking out five, while the Naranjeros bullpen allowed just two runners to reach base over the final four innings. 

Jaguares de Nayarit (28-21) 10, Tucson Baseball Team (16-33) 7 – Jacob Rhinesmith hit a two-run double in the top of the fifth, and Aaron Zavala hit his first homer of the season, a solo shot in the seventh, to cap the scoring for Nayarit. Marco Chicuate hit a solo homer and Agustin Ruiz hit a two-run double in the top of the fourth for the Baseball Team, which is 2-8 in its last 10 games. 

Venados de Mazatlan (18-31) 3, Aguilas de Mexicali (26-23) 1 (10 Innings) – Miguel Guzman’s two-run single in the top of the 10th got the Venados past the Aguilas and kept them two games ahead of last-place Tucson. Andres Alvarez got Mazatlan on the board in the second with a sacrifice fly that scored Edwin Espinal. Estevan Florial hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game for Mexicali.
