LAMP’s Algodoneros de Guasave Headed to Baja, Barcelona, and Arizona During Preseason

A wave of woe might befall the Algodoneros de Guasave’s travel planners when they see the team’s 2024 preseason schedule.

The Algodoneros, who play in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico, will travel to three different events during the preseason. They will visit La Paz, Baja California del Sur, for the 2024 Baja Ferry preseason event at Estadio Arturo C. Nahl before heading to Barcelona, Spain, for the Barcelona Baseball Cup, part of 2024 Catalonia Sports Week. The team will head to Arizona to participate in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta before beginning the 2024-25 campaign.

Dates for all three events have yet to be determined.

According to a press release by the LAMP, the Algodoneros’ trip to Barcelona has been in the works for several years. A similar trip had been planned several years ago. It will be the first time that a professional baseball team has played in Spain, giving the baseball portion of Catalonia Sports Week a boost in profile and the Algodoneros a foothold in Europe as well.

Guasave’s preseason will conclude at the Mexican Baseball Fiesta in Phoenix, Ariz., part of annual events celebrating baseball and Mexican culture featuring LAMP teams at various sites in the southwestern United States. Last year, LAMP teams played 12 games at events in Phoenix, Tucson, Ariz., and Mesa, Ariz. as part of the Mexican Baseball Fiesta.

The Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico regular season begins on October 11. The Algodoneros open the 2024-25 campaign the next day, facing the Tomateros de Culiacan on the road, returning to Guasave for their home opener against Culiacan the next day.
