In May, team officials from the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico’s (LAMP) Mayos de Navojoa announced that the club is relocating to Tucson, Arizona. They will play their home games at the Kino Veteran’s Memorial Stadium at the Kino Sports Complex.

Additionally, the team will be known as the Tucson Baseball Club during the 2025-26 LAMP winter season. Still, Victor Cuevas, the president of the Mayos, wants the fans’ involvement in selecting the next official name for the club, according to a report made by Tucson.com’s Michael Lev

Lev also reports that the agreed-upon time for the Mayos to play in Tucson, at least for now, is one year. The club will be the first and only team from the LAMP based in the United States.

In recent years, the Mayos played games at Kino Veteran’s Memorial Stadium as part of the Mexican Baseball Fiesta, which the official website describes as “a cultural event that celebrates the sport of baseball in Mexico.” The event features exhibition games involving the University of Arizona baseball team and multiple clubs from LAMP.

LAMP is Mexico’s top winter professional baseball league and is host to 10 organizations. The Mayos joined the league in 1959 and won championships in the 1978-79 and 1999-2000 seasons.

“We are entering in the best category of baseball that is played in Mexico, and we’re also the third largest league in the world,” Cuevas said at a press conference Wednesday, officially announcing the club’s move to Tucson. “So there’s MLB, then it’s Japan, and then there’s us. So I want everybody to grasp where we’re getting into.”

Last season, the Mayos finished their final season in Navojoa, Sonora, in ninth place in the LAMP with a 25-43 record. They played their home games at Estadio Manuel “Ciclón” Echevarría.
