The 26-year-old slugger from Montreal, Canada—born to Dominican parents—became the sixth player of Dominican descent to win the honor. Guerrero appeared in all seven games of the ALCS, slashing .385/.484/.846 with 10 hits in 31 plate appearances, six runs, three doubles, three home runs, three RBI, four walks, and just two strikeouts.
Before his MVP performance, Guerrero helped Toronto defeat the New York Yankees in four games in the American League Division Series. He hit .529/.550/1.059 across those four games with nine hits, three home runs, and nine RBI in 20 plate appearances.
Guerrero’s 2025 season has been a benchmark year for both his power and consistency. After agreeing to a 14-year, $500 million extension with Toronto on April 9—including $325 million in signing bonuses paid annually and deferred money but no opt-outs—the three-time All-Star rewarded the franchise with elite production.

He played 156 games during the 2025 regular season, posting a 4.5 WAR with 680 plate appearances, a .292 batting average, 34 doubles, 23 home runs, 84 RBI, six stolen bases, and an .848 OPS.
Earlier in the year, the Blue Jays and Guerrero avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $28.5 million salary, the third-highest arbitration figure in MLB history—trailing only Juan Soto’s $31 million in 2024 and Shohei Ohtani’s $30 million in 2023.
Guerrero’s dominance on both sides of the border continues to bridge cultures and generations, embodying the Baseball Without Borders spirit shared by the many Latino legends who came before him.
