The Advanced Baseball Learning Center and LIDOM, the Dominican Republic’s professional baseball league that plays over the winter, have agreed to a training program for front office and analytics personnel aimed at strengthening the island nation’s place in the baseball industry.

Signed in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the nation’s capital, the agreement was spearheaded by the president of LIDOM, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, and the curriculum director of the Advanced Baseball Learning Center, José Gómez Frías.

The program will feature seminars, courses, workshops, training, and certifications in management, scouting and player evaluation, baseball operations, technology, communications, and data analysis, all key to the operations of professional teams and leagues, with LIDOM receiving scholarships to train and develop staffers, improving the league’s front office.

LIDOM is one of four member leagues of the Confederacion de Beisbol Profesional del Caribe, all of which play in the winter and send their champions to the Caribbean Series, the annual playoff tournament featuring the champions of LIDOM, the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional, Puerto Rico’s Liga Beisbol Profesional de Roberto Clemente, and the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico.
