LIDOM: Aguilas Cibaenas Continue Dominant Regular Season Run With 4-1 Win Over Leones del Escogido

Gigantes del Cibao (14-19) 7, Toros del Este (18-16) 5  – On Thursday night, the Gigantes del Cibao delivered one of their most determined performances of the season against the Toros del Este, improving to two games abov .500 with the win. 

Gary Sánchez finished 2-for-4 with a triple, was hit by a pitch, had two RBIs, and scored a run. In the second, he lined a triple to right field, driving in Deyvison De Los Santos to give the Gigantes a 1-0 lead. Carlos Jorge then sent a sharp line-drive single to center, bringing home Sánchez. 

In the bottom of the second, Gilberto Celestino lifted a line drive into right, allowing Jeimer Candelario to score. Castro followed with a line-drive double to center, clearing the bases as Ronaldo Hernández and Rafael Lantigua scored to make it 3-2. 

In the third, Sánchez later grounded a single up the middle to bring in Johan Rojas.

In the top of the ninth, De Los Santos drove a line-drive triple into center, clearing the bases as Rojas and Luis García Jr. came home to give Cibao a 7-5 lead.

Allan Castro went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBIs and a run scored for the Toros.

Águilas Cibaeñas (25-8) 4, Leones del Escogido (14-20) 1 –  On Thursday night, the Águilas Cibaeñas delivered yet another dominant performance against the Leones del Escogido. 

Alberto Rodríguez went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored, while opener Huascar Ynoa pitched three innings, allowing one hit and no runs with three strikeouts. 

Aderlin Rodríguez singled on a ground ball to left field, driving in Leody Taveras in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 Aguilas lead.  

In the bottom of the third, Jerar Encarnación singled to left field, scoring Ezequiel Durán. 

Chadwick Tromp doubled on a line drive to left field, bringing home Dervy Ventura and getting the Leones on the board.  

In the bottom of the eighth, the Águilas successfully challenged a hit-by-pitch call, and Steward Berroa was awarded first base, allowing Jerar Encarnación to score to make it 4-1.
