Down to their last out Sunday night, the Tigres del Licey got a boost when Gustavo Nunez tied the game with a two-run home run off Leones del Escogido reliever Rafael Medrano.
And then, Nunez’ bat was confiscated at the request of the Leones del Escogido, who believed it to not be conforming to the rules.
Twelve hours after the game ended with a 7-4 Licey victory in 14 innings, LIDOM has confirmed that Nunez’ bat is legal after examining the bat and cutting the barrel apart.

In a press release issued just before noon Monday, the league said that the bat was deemed legal following an examination by LIDOM president Vitello Mejia Ortiz, Dominican Republic baseball commissioner Junior Noboa, representatives of both the Tigres del Licey and Leones del Escogido organizations, as well as an attorney and a representative from FENABEPRO, the LIDOM players union.
All parties present certified that the bat had not been altered and met the rules regarding bats, according to the press release issued by LIDOM.
Game seven of the series, which will decide the series and determine which club will represent LIDOM at the Caribbean Series in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, will be played tonight at 6:30 p.m., and will be streamed live on MLB.TV with a subscription.
