Veteran manager Jose Offerman has signed on to manage the Toros del Este in LIDOM for the 2024-25 season.

Offerman will be joined in the dugout by former Major League Baseball player Carlos Febles, who will serve as bench coach.

“The combination of both (Offerman and Febles) has already given good results before and we trust that it will give results now, not only at game time, but before in the clubhouse, which is where the process of winning games really begins,” Toros general manager Jesús Mejía told the LIDOM website in Spanish.

On Dec. 16, 2023, the Tigres del Licey fired Offerman as manager after the club lost seven of their last 10 games preceding the move. Offerman has won three championships with the Tigres del Licey, most recently in the 2022-23 season with Carlos Febles as his bench coach, a season that also saw the club win its 11th Caribbean Series title in Caracas, Venezuela. He also led the Tigres to LIDOM titles in 2008-09 and 2013-14.

Offerman played four seasons with the Toros franchise from 1989 through 1992, when the club was known as the Azucareros del Este. which is based in La Romana, Dominican Republic, about 125 kilometers east of the capital of Santo Domingo. He appeared with the Tigres del Licey in 2006-07 and 2008-09 season, and also played for Licey in the 2008 Caribbean Series in Santiago de Los Caballeros, D.R., which the Tigres won with a 5-1 record.
