LIDOM: New President, Pitching Coach For Tigres del Licey in 2025-26

When the Tigres del Licey open the 2025-26 LIDOM season at EStadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal against their capital city rival, the Leones del Escogido, there will be a new boss in the front office and a new coach in the dugout.

Miguel Guerra Armenteros, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania who works in the natural gas industry in the Dominican Republic, was named the 21st president in team history in March, and is the grandson of former Tigres president Ignacio Guerra Abreu, who lead the team in both the 1953-54 season and from 1955-57 in the early years of LIDOM’s professional era.

“It’s an honor for me to assume the presidency of this glorious organization that has shone for 120 years. I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you: players, front office staff, employees, and, of course, our loyal fans, for your dedication and unwavering passion. Your commitment has been instrumental in building our team’s rich history and legacy,” Guerra said in a press release announcing his appointment.

The Tigres del Licey won the 2023 and 2024 LIDOM championship, and captured the 2023 Caribbean Series title in Caracas, Venezuela. Founded in 1907, the team has won 24 LIDOM titles and 11 Caribbean Series crowns.

Gerardo Casadiego Named Pitching Coach – Venezuela’s Gerardo Casadiego, the pitching coach for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the New York Yankees organization, will be the pitching coach for Licey this coming winter. He’s been a coach in the Yankees organization since he retired as a player in 2012, and was the pitching coach for the Tigres de Aragua in the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional last winter. He has coached at all levels of the Yankees minor league system, and also previously served as pitching coach for the LVBP’s Navegantes de Magallanes.

“It’s a challenge for me as a professional, and at the same time, it’s a tremendous opportunity,” Casadiego said in a team-issued release.
