Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico Holds Mexican, Foreign Player Drafts For 2026-27 Season

The Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico held its annual Mexican and Foreign Player Drafts on Wednesday, with 17-year Major League Baseball veteran Justin Turner being selected first overall in the Foreign Player Draft by the Aguilas de Mexicali.

A full list of the players chosen by each team in each draft is below. Each team is required to release a player from its roster to select another player unless the team has an open roster spot. After the first round, the draft order reverses, so the team that selected 10th in the first round selects first in the second round, with each draft continuing until no team selects a player in a round.

Players born in Mexico whose rights are not currently held by any team in the LAMP are eligible to be selected in the Mexican Player Draft, while players born outside of Mexico who are currently playing in Mexico are eligible to be selected in the Foreign Player Draft. A player who is selected in either draft must still negotiate a contract with the team who selected him.

A team can select a player in either draft, but that does not mean that player will play for that team when the LAMP season begins in October.

For example, the Naranjeros de Hermosillo selected Trevor Bauer, who was playing for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, in the 2024 Foreign Player Draft. That gave them the exclusive right to his services had he decided to play winter ball in the LAMP during the 2024-25 season. Ultimately, Bauer didn’t play winter ball that year — not in LAMP, not anywhere — but the Naranjeros held his rights if he decided he wanted to come back to Mexico for the winter.

Often, the players taken in the LAMP’s Foreign Player Draft are committed to other winter league teams in other countries, and LAMP teams select them just in case they decide they want a change of scenery.

Notably, Bauer is returning to Mexico with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico this weekend, and has expressed interest in pitching this winter, stating in a post on Instagram that he’d like to pitch in the 2027 Caribbean Series, which will be hosted by the LAMP’s Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
