Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Acereros de Monclova, Hot As a Steel Mill, Win Their Fifth Straight Game; Rain Wipes Out Three Games

Acereros de Monclova (20-15) 2, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (17-18) – Balbino Fuenmayor scored both Monclova runs, scoring on an errant throw by Tecos catcher Francisco Cordoba in the second when Cordoba tried to catch Juan Mora stealing second and later clubbing a solo homer in the top of the fourth. Fuenmayor went 2-for-4 and Acereros starter Jake McSteen threw five scoreless innings, allowing three hits, walking one, and striking out five as the Acereros won their seventh straight game.

Tigres de Quintana Roo (13-21) at Piratas de Campeche (13-21) – A storm hit Campeche, leaving the field unplayable, and the game will be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Thursday starting at 7 p.m. EDT.

Bravos de Leon (20-14) at Guerreros de Oaxaca (23-11) – This game was postponed due to rain and has been rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Thursday.

Conspiradores de Queretaro (15-20) 5, Pericos de Puebla (20-15) 2 – Rainel Rosario’s pinch hit three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth ended the game for Queretaro. Former New York Yankee Yangervis Solarte hit a solo homer to drive in the first run for the Conspiradores in the top of the first. Luis Castro and Cristhian Adames hit solo homers for Puebla in the loss.

Caliente de Durango (17-18) 9, Saraperos de Saltillo (11-23) 2 – A seven-run fifth inning by the Caliente doomed the Saraperos, with Estevan Florial, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Alejandro Mejia, and WEbster Rivas all hitting RBI singles. Leonel Valera capped the big inning with a two-run triple for Durango.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (21-13) at Leones de Yucatan (11-23) – This game was postponed due to rain and has been rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Thursday.

Dorados de Chihuahua (11-24) 6, Algodoneros de Union Laguna (13-22) 5 – Coco Montes drove in Mark Contreras with the go-ahead run for Chihuahua in the seventh as the Dorados edged the Algodoneros for their 11th win of the year. Contreras finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Toros de Tijuana (24-10) 9, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (18-15) 5 – A six-run seventh inning punctuated by a three-run homer by Hernan Perez, his second of the game, got the Toros past Aguascalientes. Starter Noah Skirrow threw six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out seven for Tijuana. Gabriel Noriega hit a solo homer for the Rieleros.

Olmecas de Tabasco (21-14) 5, El Aguila de Veracruz (15-20) 4 – Agustin Murillo’s RBI single in the bottom of the 10th got the Olmecas their 21st win of the year, while Veracruz dropped its fifth straight game. Seth Beer went 2-for-5 with three RBIs for Tabasco, hitting his ninth homer of the year, a solo shot in the sixth.

Charros de Jalisco (22-14) 5, Sultanes de Monterrey (22-14) 2 – The Charros moved into a tie with the Sultanes for second place in Zona Norte with their 22nd win of the season. Kyle Garlick went 2-for-4 for the Charros with three RBIs, hitting his ninth homer of the year, a two-run shot in the sixth, and Mateo Gil went 2-for-3 with a double.
