Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Diablos Rojos del Mexico and Bravos de Leon Combine to Score 30 In Capital City Slugfest

Pericos de Puebla (23-18) 5, Olmecas de Tabasco (25-16) 1 (Game 1/Seven Innings) – Lorenzo Cedrola went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Herlis Rodriguez and Michael De La Cruz each drove in a pair of runs as the Pericos took the first game of the doubleheader. Starter Antonio Santos threw six innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk for Puebla, striking out two.

Olmecas de Tabasco (26-15) 5, Pericos de Puebla (22-19) 2 (Game 2/Seven Innings) – Yamaico Navarro, Agustin Ruiz, and Domingo Leyba homered for the Olmecas in the second game of the doubleheader as Tabasco earned a split. Austin Warner threw 5 1/3 innings for Puebla, striking out four and allowing one run on five hits and two walks.

Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (20-22) 6, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (21-21) 3 – Zoilo Almonte went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs, and Francisco Cordoba homered for Dos Laredos. Matthew Batten hit his third homer of the year for the Rieleros, who fell back to an even 21-21 with the loss. Starter Tyler Ivey allowed three runs on four hits, striking out nine over six innings for Dos Laredos.

Tigres de Quintana Roo (18-22) 7, Guerreros de Oaxaca (24-17) 3 – Alexis Wilson hit a three-run homer in the second and the Tigres cruised to their 18th win of the year. Calvin Estrada added a two-run double in the eighth, and the Quintana Roo bullpen allowed one hit and one walk over four scoreless innings to preserve the win.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (26-16) 18, Bravos de Leon (24-18) 12 – The wind must’ve been blowing out at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu, where the Diablos scored 10 in the second inning, and they Bravos combined to hit seven home runs and score 30 total runs in the game. Gabriel Cancel hit his league-leading 16th homer for Leon, and Jermaine Palacios and Roberto Castro also hit long balls for the Bravos. Jon Singleton hit his 15th of the year for the Diablos, and Carlos Perez, Robinson Cano, and Julian Ornelas also homered for the Reds.

El Aguila de Veracruz (18-23) at Piratas de Campeche (15-24) – Suspended due to rain with one out in the top of the fourth inning and Campeche leading 3-2.

Dorados de Chihuahua (15-27) 4, Caliente de Durango (21-20) 3 – Emilio Vargas allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks, striking out eight, and Leobaldo Pina went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs as the Dorados took the series opener. Alejandro Mejia hit a two-run homer for Durango in the loss.

Conspiradores de Queretaro (18-24) 7, Leones de Yucatan (14-27) 4 – Former New York Yankee Yangervis Solarte went 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs for Queretaro. Dalton Guthrie hit a two-run homer in the fourth for Yucatan, which remains in last place in the Zona Sur, 2 1/2 games behind Campeche.

Sultanes de Monterrey (25-16) at Saraperos de Saltillo (13-26) – Suspended due to rain with two outs in the bottom of the second with Saltillo leading 5-1.

Toros de Tijuana (28-13) 5,Charros de Jalisco (25-17) 4 – Phillip Evans drove in Jack Mayfield with an eighth-inning single to give the Toros the win and a three-game lead over Monterrey atop the Zona Norte. Wilmer Flores contributed a solo homer in the third for Tijuana. Kyle Garlick had two singles and two RBIs for Jalisco.
